Dust Settle is a shoot 'em up arcade game that combines two classics: Space Invaders and Brick Breaker. This time, you play as a 'raiden' or spaceship pilot trying to defend against enemy attacks. Each enemy ship has a number that indicates the number of times you'll need to hit it before it's destroyed.
The controls in Dust Settle are similar to other games in this subgenre. The alien invaders appear at the top of the screen in various formations that you need to break up with a clean shot. Whenever you kill a group of invaders, you'll earn new weapons with improved range and power, the latter of which is especially useful for eliminating enemy ships more quickly.
To move your ship, simply slide your finger across the screen. The ship fires automatically, so all you have to do is aim at the enemy ships, dodge their attacks, and collect the rewards. After a few waves, you'll face a boss, which requires more hits to defeat. From the main menu, you can consult a map of the planets you're traveling to, as well as the various ships you've gained access to.
Dust Settle is a fun and fast-paced arcade game which successfully combines two otherwise over-played genres for a truly original gaming experience.
